Chanukah Wonderland in Northbrook seeks to connect kids to their Jewish heritage

The Chabad of Northbrook and Chabad Israeli Center held the second annual Chanukah Wonderland at Northbrook Court. The four-day celebration that took place over the last two weekends and offered educational activities for all ages.
This is one of many programs, organizers say, that aims to bring Jewish values and ideals into the lives of children through creative and stimulating hands-on experiences.
Rabbi Meir Moscowitz, regional director of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois and Rabbi at Lubavitch Chabad of Northbrook, is to reach the children on their level and in their language.
"Programs like Chanukah Wonderland help kids feel more connected to their Jewish heritage, which is particularly important during the December holiday season," Moscowitz said.
The Wonderland, located in the lower level of Northbrook Court, offered a $10 per child all-inclusive entrance fee for scheduled days, as well as an opportunity for private groups to attend during off hours and by appointment.
Melissa Einhorn attended the event with her family on Dec. 17.
"We celebrate Hanukkah all week with traditional family gatherings, but this is something special that we can do with the kids who love the hands-on experiences and art making activities," she said.
Chana Teldon and Feige Slavaticki are teachers at Chabad who bring their educational expertise to the activities.
"At Chanukah Wonderland we want to bring the joy and message of Chanukah to the children," Slavaticki said.
